Not Me is a collaborative performance project between performance artist Megan Garrett-Jones and singer, writer and filmmaker Marianne Dissard based on Marianne's gripping and visceral memoir documenting her recovery from eating disorders and the chaotic life of a touring musician. Our showing at the Tom Thumb Theatre, Margate on the 27th September garnered lots of encouraging feedback and amazing support from the creative community of Thanet.
I have been working a bit lately to put spoken word to music. I'm sure more theatrical elements will ensue. I finally managed to upload a bit of the video of a collaboration I did with composer Nicholas deCarlo that we performed at the launch of CISA Local a 12" vinyl compliation at Free Range, Canterbury, 16 November 2017 for Migro Records and CISA. For the fourth installment of Things With Words, I was invited to organise an event at Vinyl Head Café and Record Store for a series curated by David Jennies for Ramsgate Festival called ‘Follow the Muse’. Things With Words is a sporadic spoken word event that which came out of too many quiet Wednesdays at my friendly local pub in Ramsgate.
